Don Fowler grew up in the small town of Waurika, Oklahoma. He was the last child of a large family of farmers in Jefferson county during the depression days. He served in the US Army during WWII in Iceland working on jeeps. He married his sweetheart, Doris Day in Sugden, OK, a town smaller than Waurika. He led his band "The Countrytimers" in gigs all over North Texas and all of Oklahoma playing in venues of all size and kind. Don played lead and rhythm guitar for the band as well as most of the lead vocals. Paul Jorgenson, His long-time friend played guitar, bass, and fiddle equally well for the band for the better part of 30 years. Other members of the band included Gene Barteau, lead guitarist and steel guitar, Karil Walker; bass guitar and vocals, Leon Scott; rhythm guitar and vocals, Joe Flowers; drummer, Helen Scott Walker; drums, Patricia Gale Fowler Bender; drums, Jim and Vickie Keneda; guitar and vocals, David Sisson; guitar and vocals, Rodney Dodd; guitar and vocals, the Scott family singers, Bobbie Jean Barteau; vocals, Randy Fletcher; lead guitar and vocals, Rob Adams; lead guitar and vocals, Shannon Adams; vocals, Paula Bender Fuqua, drums and vocals. this is only a partial list. Don met and played music with many famous country music artists.
