In 1997 four high school friends began writing songs together above a garage in Copley, Ohio -- by 1999, Dolly Trauma's first 4-song demo was in regular rotation on 88.9 V-Rock, the station that turned Cleveland metal act Mushroomhead into a local phenomenon. While most of its peers were ripping off Korn and Limp Bizkit, Dolly Trauma remained committed to melody, emotion and experimentation. The band's demo went on to sell 1000 copies in the northeast Ohio area alone, and local club-owners took notice. In 2003, after several years of headlining weekend shows throughout Ohio and its neighboring states, Dolly Trauma's members took a year-long break from gigging in the Midwest to finish their degrees and work on their self-produced, full-length debut. With college out of the way, the band then released their debut CD to a swarm of rabid fans at The Voodoo Lounge in Akron. The sold-out show offered many long-time DT enthusiasts the chance to get their hands on a recording they'd been begging for since the turn of the millennium. Less fortunate DT followers lined the street outside of the Voodoo and waited until the show's end to get their copies of the album. Dolly Trauma's debut album continues to be the top local seller at Akron record stores; and fans from Brazil, Finland and Australia have purchased their copies of the CD from the band's self-maintained, state-of-the-art Web site: DOLLYTRAUMA.COM.
