Do It To Julia is a four-piece indie folk-rock band from Boone, North Carolina, where they began playing in the fall of 2006. The band includes Ryan O’Keefe on vocals and rhythm guitar, Halli Anderson on violin and vocals, Alex McWalters on drums, and Matt Rossino on bass and vocals. Some of their influences are Broken Social Scene, The Decemberists, Bon Iver, Sigur Ros and Wilco. In the winter of 2007, the band signed a contract with Split Rail Records, and released their first full-length album entitled “Archie Carrol" in October 2008. They are currently working on their second album in Asheville, NC. It's projected to be released at the beginning of the new year. The band originated with Ryan O’Keefe and Alex McWalters. Ryan is from Prospect Harbor, Maine and brought with him to Boone a pure, natural, folk simplicity unique to Down-East Maine. Alex is a drummer from Atlanta who grew up playing with punk rock and hardcore bands. The two met their freshman year at Appalachian State University and became a duo that moved together through a few local Boone bands, or just played music by themselves. In the summer of 2006, the two began writing heavily and decided to expand. In the fall of 2006, they added Alex Miller on bass and Halli Anderson on violin and vocals. Halli grew up playing “fiddle” and singing folk songs around her hometown of Hendersonville, North Carolina. Alex Miller came from Charlotte, where he had picked up bass playing with a few friends.
