Formed in Frankfurt in 2017, Djoona’s kind of rock is widely described as lively, groovy and sometimes even aggressive. Bass player Julio Dakovic first met Nadine Sturmer in early 2017 and they started experimenting with the ideas both of them already had. Changing drummers and guitarists in the following months eventually brought drummer Oliver Reps in the end of 2017 and guitar player Plamen Dimitrov a couple of months later. The four quickly managed to form the ‘sound of Djoona’ throwing away the concept of acoustic guitar and light percussion and replacing it with funky grooves and heavy riffs. The band gained local popularity after opening for the Brits Smiley & The Underclass in Frankfurt, then taking part for the second time in Mühlbergfestival, close to Aschaffenburg, Bavaria. In the Summer of 2018 the band decided to perpetuate the work done in the past months by recording their first session album on August 18. It took them 8 hours to record 8 songs. The record was released on 25 March 2019 and is followed by a mini tour in Frankfurt and Wiesbaden area.
