Django 3000 is a German folk/pop rock band from the Chiemgau which formed in 2011. Members: Vocals & Guitar: Kamil Müller Violin, Guitar & Vocals: Florian R. Starflinger (former Luftmentschn) Drums & Vocals: Jojo Vogt (occasionally/live support since 2021) Bass: Korbinian Kugler (occasionally/live support since 2018) Former members: Vocals & Accordion: Lorenz "Astl Lenz" Schmid (from 2011 to 2012; most songs/lyrics on their first album, now Lenze & de Buam) Bass & Vocals: Michael Fenzl (former Luftmentschn; from 2011 to 2017, now solo as Fenzl) Drums & Backing Vocals: Jan-Philipp Wiesmann (former Luftmentschn; from 2011 to 2021) Keyboard: Max Schuller (from 2018 to 2019) Biography: The trio from the Chiemgau region in Upper Bavaria took its name from jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and his “Gypsy swing,” a nod to their own musical roots with violin, acoustic guitar, and double bass. In 2011 they uploaded a video of their song Heidi (music: Starflinger, lyrics: Astl) to YouTube and quickly attracted wide attention. They signed a record deal with Seven Days Music and released their debut album under the band name Django 3000 in March 2012. With it, they placed both themselves and their Bavarian “Balkan beat” in the German album charts. Around the release of the first album, Lorenz “Astl” Schmid left the band, and Kamil Müller, previously only on guitar and backing vocals, took over as lead singer.
