While in his teens, DJ Warp was already cultivating a scene of international and electronic music enthusiasts, as well as percussionists and drum lovers alike. Organizing Indian classical concerts and leading drums circles, He never thought of becoming a DJ at the time. He was to used to being behind the drums and playing the music. He soon realized the possibilities of combining different styles of music together and using DJing as a tool to another means of musical expression. He's been going at it for 12 years now, along with his ongoing 20 plus years of drumming. His mission to bring World Music to center stage and promote awareness in its many styles is seen in his passionate support for world music in the Midwest. He has become a staple DJ in the Chicago music scene, playing various styles of music and sharing the stage with top notch touring artists, as well as playing drums and percussion with various bands and musicians. He is currently a Program director for the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, as well as staging his own concerts, in-store appearances, radio interviews, and local press for some of his favorite touring artists, including Zakir Hussain, Nusrat Fatah Ali Khan, Ali Akbar Khan, Sultan Khan, and many, many others as well. DJ Warp has shared the stage with many of today's top musical talent.
