Dizzy Balloon was a five-man pop group from Piedmont, California, noted for its upbeat, "positive" sound. The group was previously known as Panda but changed its name due to issues with the Mexican rock group of the same name. The group was formed when its members, now college-aged, were in middle school. As high school juniors — then performing as Panda — the band regularly sold out Bottom Of The Hill, a legendary breeding ground for San Francisco Bay Area talent. The group’s three-song demo garnered steady airplay on KITS (Live105), KSAN (The Bone), and KALX (Berkeley). The media attention pushed the band onto larger stages (at Slims and Great American Music Hall, to name a few). Live 105 music director Aaron Axelson affectionately called the band “the pride of Piedmont,” name-checking the band’s small northern California hometown. Guitarist Jonny Flannes cites the Beatles and Queen as the group's two biggest influences.
