Divorce Court is the solo project of producer Lynden Williams. His music, light, tender, and nostalgic, should practically be next to the word “atmospheric” in the dictionary – his past singles, including personal favorites “Indonesia” and “Doubt” reflect this mood firsthand, with their brilliantly hazy vocals and rarefied synth that seem to expand in whatever room they happen to be played in. Dream pop such as Divorce Court’s tend to flourish when an emphasis is placed on what one can do with a slower, more lived in tone – in volume one of Slow Songs, released at the beginning of July, Williams took that to another level, taking his past singles and slowing them down, down, way down until you could practically see every grain of synth, every smoky lyric dissolving into the ether.
