There are (at least) two bands called District Five. 1. District Five is an experimental band from Zürich, Switzerland, that plays jazz, but not just jazz. Named after Zürich's 'industrial chic' District 5, band members Vojko Huter, Paul Amereller, Tapiwa Svosve and Xaver Rüegg are all multi-instrumentalists. They started out as a free jazz group, but (having shared rehearsal rooms and stages for over ten years, reflecting on themselves, their friendship, their influences and experiences in their music) they have evolved. Sometimes it's jazzy, sometimes more poppy, sometimes something that's faw away from both, but it always stays close to itself. Four albums thus far: Decoy (2018), Burnt Sugar (2022), Pause (2023) and Come Closer (2024). 2. District Five was a post-hardcore band from Strongsville, OH, United States, active in the latter half of the 1990s. They had two releases: an LP (Leap Year, 1996) and an EP (My Life Through Stereophones, 1997). Personnel: Brian Mascioli, Garett Zunt, Phil Barlow, Todd Bell.
