Artist
In 2012, Michael Bernard, lead vocalist, Sean Nicholas, drummer, Kipp Sappier, lead guitar, and Corey Nicholas, rhythm guitar - came together to form the all Indigenous East Coast band known as District Avenue, a name chosen for its ability and power to leave an unforgettable mark. District Avenue integrates cultural storytelling with hard rock/metal to deliver an innovative and introspective throw down of lyrics and instrumentals. The depths of artistry stem from the value in Indigenous heritage and the necessity to overcome life’s addictions. Each member of the band holds a story, a vision and an eclectic taste in music that together transfuses a multitude of sounds. Touring across Canada, District Avenue was nominated for the 2014 East Coast Music awards for “Aboriginal Recording of the Year”, and have hit number one on the National Aboriginal Music Countdown. And also was nominated for the 2014 Indigenous Music Awards "Best Rock Album". And 2015 Indigenous Music Awards "Best New Artist".
