DIstant Trains is the home-recording project begun in February 2010 by Charles Hoffman of Des Moines, Iowa, also known as bassist of Why Make Clocks and Fetal Pig. Debuting with the digital release of the "sludgegaze"/"doom-pop" album Congratulations On Your Suicide in June 2010 on the Sleep On The Floor label, the project soon became a catch-all name for recordings and performances ranging from lo-fi bedroom folk to harsh noise, subject to Hoffman's mercurial whims.
