Distant Jim were an English band who never released any records in the UK. Bassist Craig Austin had been in The Dimples and Gospel Garden. Guitarist Les Nicol joined just as the band morphed into Methusalah (1 LP on Elektra). Eventually two bands were formed from the ashes of Methusalah, Amazing Blondel and Austin & Nicol’s Distant Jim. They recruited drummer Steve Chapman from Junior’s Eyes, started gigging round the UK and recorded with Geoff Gill of The Smoke. However, their records only appeared on the Continent. This was a massive loss for the UK, as on the strength of this track, they were fabulous. Chapman would later join Arrival, while all three would team up again in Coast Road Drive.
