Disease Illusion is an Italian modern melodic death metal band formed in 2008. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Gothenburg sound of Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, and Soilwork, the band infuses their music with a contemporary edge, blending melodic intensity, heavy riffs, and atmospheric elements. Their lyrics delve into existential struggles and societal themes, creating a fusion of depth and aggression. The band debuted with the EP Reality Behind the Illusions of Life in 2009, followed by their acclaimed first album Backworld in 2011. In 2018, they released their second album, After the Storm [That Never Came], through Buil2Kill Records. Produced by Giuseppe "Dualized" Bassi at Dysfunction Studios, the album featured the hit single "Red Wine Stained Cheek" and its cinematic video shot across Bologna and Copenhagen. Their third full-length album, Plastic Ocean, released on September 19, 2024, marks a new chapter. The title track confronts the environmental crisis, using the metaphor of a polluted ocean to highlight humanity's impact on the planet. The album introduces fresh electronic elements to their signature melodic death metal style, showcasing the evolving sound. Having shared the stage with acts like Aborted, Dying Fetus, and Revocation, Disease Illusion has also performed at major festivals, including Metalcamp in Slovenia, and toured extensively across Europe.
