Dirk Drent was formed in 2000. They officially entered the New Zealand punk scene on 3rd November 2000 in support of Channel 13 with Phuket at Indigo, Wellington. The band members, all under 18 at the time, were forced to leave the premises shortly after playing. Following that, the band played numerous shows around the North Island, building up a solid reputation as one of the top new school punk bands in the country.
