From the ashes of Akta Angkasa and Custom Daisy, Dirgahayu first emerged in July 2013 as a 3-piece instrumental rock outfit. The band initial hit the scene with a single release Bahawasa-nya: 4 minutes of organised chaos, robust guitar attacks, and exuberant drum beats punctuated by intense abrupt transitions. In conjunction of their nationwide tour 2013-14, directed by Carlos Nizam and Khairul Johari, Bahawasa-nya’s music video was released with compelling positive reviews from all over the region. Shot with a DSLR on burst, the resulting effect is a staccatolike rhythm of stop motion filming from a god’s eye view. With the addition of Seikan Sawaki on drums and Zulhezan back on guitar duty, expect their sound dynamics to turn more progressive, odd-signature compositions greeted with dense guitar riffs and a new foray of sound.
