Diesel Whores are an alternative rock band based in Johannesburg, South Africa on Gosatango Records (run by singer & guitarist Jaxon Rice). Their sound combines such seemingly diverse influences as Pixies, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Gun Club and 16 Horsepower being a blend of uptempo alternative rock with lashings of dark alt.country. The lyrics focus on the true rock'n'roll staples - sex, drugs, Satan, Jesus, murder and incest - roughly in equal doses. Lead guitarist Arnaud Van Vliet formerly played for South African industrial band Battery 9. Long time bassist Dog departed in 2004 and now plays bass in a NY syle hardcore band Bloodline Ltd, also based in Johannesburg.
