As solo timpanist of the Orchestre National de France, Didier Benetti has played under the direction of prestigious conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Seiji Ozawa, Pierre Boulez, Ricardo Muti, Valery Gergiev, Kurt Masur, and Daniele Gatti. Enriched by these meetings, he decided to devote himself to orchestral conducting, his first steps being guided by Manuel Rosenthal. His musical eclecticism allows him to approach with the same happiness the works of the great symphonic repertoire, the lyrical repertoire, the music of today with a predilection for works high in color and rhythm. He has participated on many occasions in the fusion of musical genres such as: symphonic and Jazz music, traditional music, electronic music, (Martial Solal Big Band, Patrice Caratini Big-Band, Henry Texier quintet, Le groupe Air, Didier Squiban, Wax Taylor…) For several years he has regularly collaborated in productions of the Opéra Royal de Liège, L'Opéra d'Avignon, Nice, Toulon, Montpellier, Metz, Toulouse ... As a composer, he has in his catalog concertos for percussions, harps, arrangements and orchestrations as well as three scores for silent film from the French cinematheque.
