Dick Philpot was born somewhere between Lonnie Donegan and the Beach Boys (born Richard Harry Philpot on 18.11.1957, Wimbledon Chase, London, England). Dick was a Semi Finalist in the UK Songwriter Contest 2007, 2008 and 2009 many of his songs have been featured as 'tracks of the day' at garageband.com On the live scene dick is often joined by Justine Barker and Sam Carpenter of smiling knife , John Black (Thirty Leos). Dick is a folk / alt folk / acoustic singer songwriter/ alt country artist his songs and performances display emotions bare, sensitivity, anger and most of all his love for humanity . Dick calls his music South London folk. Dick's lyrics have often been described as poetry. A powerful great big 'bear' of a man - 'Robert Mitcham with a hangover'. To date Dick has released 3 Cds carpenter for the legion, you gotta believe its true and the south london stroll. Dick also has a collection of demos entitled 'shoot them in the head' which is just him his guitar and a mic capturing some of his earliest songs in their simpliest form. Dick is a regular performer he has played at the Troubadour Club and at the 2006, 7 and 8 Cannizaro Open Air Festival's the Carshalton Environmental Fair, Wandle Festivals and just about anywhere he can hang his hat.. He's supported Billy Franks (Faith Brothers www.billyfranks.com), played harmonica for, Jon Le Champignon ( Ozric Tentacles & dream machine ) and for the greatest rock n roll band in London '66'.
