Diablito was an obscure one-off project from the people that brought you the Chubby Checker hits. The single "The Jungle / Merengue Potatoes" was written by Kal Mann and Dave Appell, and released on the Parkway label, in 1960 according to Discogs but 1962 seems more likely. Nothing is known about who performs on the record, it may have been Appell's band The Applejacks. David Leon Appell was an American producer, arranger, bandleader, publisher, songwriter and guitarist (born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, March 24, 1922 - β Cherry Hill, New Jersey, November 18, 2014). He was associated mainly with the Cameo Parkway record label, in whose history he played a substantial part, here he was working very closely with the other songwriters and producers Kal Mann and Bernie Lowe, all of them born in Philadelphia. Kal Mann (real name: Kalman Cohen) was an American lyricist and producer (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, May 6, 1917 - β Pompano Beach, Florida, November 28, 2001). His most known songs include Butterfly, Teddy Bear, Limbo Rock, Wild One, The Cha-Cha-Cha, Fabulous, Let's Twist Again, which won the Grammy for best Pop Song of the year. Founder with Bernie Lowe of the Cameo Parkway Records in 1956, creating a team with Dave Appell, of prolific and successful songwriters.
