Devastation was a heavy metal band from Borås, Sweden. The band formed in early 2004 and went through a few name changes before ultimately settling with Devastation. To avoid confusion with several other bands using the name, they later added "(Sweden)" for certain public purposes. Internally the band name was often shortened and referred to as "Deva" by the band themselves. However, the band's releases were all published as Devastation, which they regarded as their true name. The band's musical style was derived and mixed from several metal sub-genres. The band's early material was largely influenced by thrash metal. Years later as they developed their sound, the band often likened themselves closer to sludge metal, citing bands like Crowbar and Black Label Society as somewhat similar comparisons. After going through some personell changes the band eventually folded in early 2014, ten years (on the day) after its inception.
