The Detroit Illharmonic Symphony formed initally to populate the soundtrack of an ill-fated animated program produced by Klasky Csupo, surviving beyond the scrapping of the project that drew them together. They combine traditonal classical music with a blend of hip-hop, electronica, jazz, and a variety of thickly-political audio samples that becomes a rich and totally unique sound. Several of their music videos can be found circulating on the internet, chiefly at their website (http://www.detroitillharmonic.org/) where samples of their music and other information about the group can be found. The members of the Detroit Illharmonic Symphony are constantly changing, much like most garden-variety symphonies. The Detroit Illharmonic Symphony is based, oddly enough, in Los Angeles rather than the city of their namesake.
