Desmond Williams is an American electronic musician, as well as a record producer and was the chief sound engineer for the Eighteenth Street Lounge Music record label. Born in Jamaica and raised in New Jersey, Williams has been known for his remixing and producing style. Eventually he was hired by Thievery Corporation to work with their fledgling studio. In 2000, Williams created his initial EP, Cocoa. In 2002, he released his debut album, Delights of the Garden. After leaving ESL Music, Desmond teamed up with Farid Ali and started Rhythm & Culture Recordings. Their first release was a collaboration between Desmond and former Avatars of Dub member, Phil Brooks, called "Browntempo". This was followed by Desmond's "East West Highway (410)" EP which featured vocals by Ire. In 2006 Desmond released a cover version of the Nirvana Classic, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" feature Morel (formerly of Deep Dish) on vocals. This version was included on the "Nirvana - The Songs of Kurt Cobain" 5 disc box set along with versions by Patti Smith, Paul Anka, and Tori Amos. Desmond's latest release is a collaboration with Midnite vocalist, Vaughn Benjamin, called "Kayamagan". This full length CD is Desmond's first reggae production since teaming up with legendary Dub engineer, Scientist to produce "International" for Sugar Minott in 1996 for RAS Records. Desmond is currently mixing the follow up to this album. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; addition
