Formed by David Dahir & Mike Smith during the Spring of 2008, DESIRE TO DESTROY bring their brand of relentless, uncompromising, heavy yet still extremely melodic and hook-laden brand of metal to the heartland of the USA from Omaha, Nebraska. "We definitely want to establish a connection with listeners through the aggression, the lyrics & the overall sound of the band, but first and foremost we write and play what we want to hear and what we really think and feel - it's really as simple as that." Says vocalist & songwriter Mike Smith. "People can categorize us however they want, and it may even be justified in some ways through what we have in common with particular music styles, but we're very inspired by MANY different styles and aspects of metal & music in general, and I do believe that is apparent when you listen to the songs. We've heard from so many people that one of the main reasons they enjoy our music is because every song is different. Of course, as time goes by we're going to have songs that have plenty in common with one another, but we're paying attention to make sure we keep in varied enough in our delivery to keep metalheads interested, and hopefully attract some people who aren't even into heavy music."
