Describe Me The Ocean formed near the end of 2010 in Murmansk, Russian Federation. Founder and lead-guitarist Alex Moskalev invited Alex Saraykov to play some metalcore with him. Whereas Moskalev liked shredding and technical guitar playing, Saraykov preferred post-hardcore and trancecore influences. Their first tracks were predominately metal, leading the band to search out other musicians to create a more complex and multi-faceted sound. They trialled many until settling on Alex Kuznetsov for rhythm-guitar and Evgeny Kuzmin on bass. Shortly after, they met Alex Sal and were impressed with his vocal ability. Since Sal didn’t perform clean vocals, it was decided to pair him with Moskalev singing clean vocals. As a five-member band, Describe Me The Ocean fused together post-hardcore, electronic, dubstep and metalcore shredding. They played a number of shows in their hometown as well as St. Petersburg. They released their début five-track EP entitled ‘Blame As A Habit’ and split shortly after during 2012.
