Dertum creatively draws on the rich treasury of Bosnian and Macedonian musical traditions, also crossing over into jazz and rock. Because of its specific approach to this kind of music Dertum has recently gained a numerous audience in Ljubljana and Slovenia, mainly among young people. In December 1997, at a concert in KUD France Prešeren, recordings for their first CD were made. In April 1997 the CD was successfully promoted (published by KUD France Prešeren, Exiles Project). The media reported: "Young musicians from exile camps in Ljubljana, with few instruments and a great love of old Bosnian and Macedonian music…. scale the borders of cultural isolation with a music passaport."
