Australian by nature, Swiss by location. Go figure! If asked to describe his musical style, he would think carefully, wait a few seconds, and then answer, 'I have no idea!' There have been so many influences that it has ended up as a fruit salad style. Depends what fruits are in season. Sometimes acoustic blues & country, sometimes power chord punk, sometimes classic rock and then just for fun a bit of effects driven noise with no limits. Musical Vandalism Lou Reed said that he loved the hissing sound an amp makes when you turn it up full volume and turn all the dials fully right! It’s telling you it’s ready for your guitar. Ok, now Derek's mellowed a bit and can appreciate the beauty of acoustic, delicate light licks and soft clean jazz. But he still loves that hissing amp sound (you’ll certainly hear it on some tracks, and with no apology) and a blast of power chords. He got bored some time ago and decided to add some vocals to hi songs. (Not so sure this was his most brilliant idea.) But anyway, there was no one else around to help at three in the morning when he recorded them. He likes to provoke with my ‘Tongue in Cheek’ lyrics, so be warned in advance if you are super sensitive!
