Many people start this off with “I have been singing since before I can remember”. Thankfully, I am not one of those people. In fact, I remember the exact moment I realized that I wanted to sing for the rest of my life. It was at a 4th grade chorus concert where I sang my first solo, which at the age of 20 I still remember every word. Though it was only 15 seconds of fame, this was my first taste of the rest of my life. With a few years of growth I started to get serious about music. I began taking vocal lessons. I learned the rules of the Voice, so I could break them and come into my own as a singer. When I was 18 and finally honed my skills as a singer, I decided to capitalize on the American Idol obsession. Though I did not audition for the show, I found myself attending as many American Idol Spin-offs that I could find. In 2006, I became radio station 98Q’s Idol Search Winner and later became a finalist in radio station Star 99.9’s Connecticut Idol Competition. From my “idol successes” I was able to open for Jesse McCartney on his Beautiful Soul Tour in Connecticut in 2006. After graduating high school, I high tailed it out of the small town of Monroe, CT and am now attending Northeastern University in Boston. Here, music has become more important to me than ever. Music has always been my life, but I am finally ready and prepared for it to be my job. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
