Depressing Claim were formed by four 14-year-old guys from Castellon with no idea of how to play an instrument but a lot of fantism for the sounds of the Ramones, Sex Pistols y their hometown most well-known band, Shock Treatment. That was some 7 years ago, and now, 2 LPs and some 7"s later, their line-up is still the same: Luis (guitar and vocals), Chomis (bass), juan (drums) y Tomas (vocals), plus Coky from Shock Treatment that joined them up a couple of years ago. Their first release was a now rare to find 7" recorded in a 4 track machine and despite of the little experiece of the band with their instruments or recording tecniques you could guess the sound that they would develope so well in the future: Energy punkrock with super catchy melodies and a lot of charm thrown in. In the summer of 1995 they recorded their debut album, called "Radio Surf", wich got a lot of good press everywhere. The inlfuences on bands like the Queers and Screeching Weasel are clear, but their excellent songwrting makes them sound unique. The recording was again in a garage with a 8 track recorder. After this LP and continuous touring in Spain they stand as leaders (and somehow pioneers) of Spanish punkpop scene. We will have to wait another 2 years to have a new LP by Depressing Claim. In the meantime, they put out songs in several compilations and split a couple of singles like the double 7" on vinyl called "Surf Punk Latin Rumble", with the itlaian bans Deh Pills & the Chromosomes and lab
