C The late 1980s into the early 1990 s, the scene was New York City CBGB, Lamours, and the East Coast.Dept C influenced by all styles of music and the urban environment they lived in. A band that was hard to categorize with its metal riffs , hardcore edge and pounding drums, managed to lure a fan base mix of skinheads, metal heads, skaters and punk rockers. Social Conscious songs about war, homelessness, healthcare and mental illness, Dept. C found themselves in the middle of the crossover movement, a scene that is still alive today and growing larger then life. Bands they have played with include the Cro Mags, Destruction, Prong, Biohazard, Whiplash, Maximum Penalty, Sheer Terror, Adrenalin O.D.,Caligula, Bloodfeast, Mucky Pup, and many others. Poverty Stricken represents the bands’ new sound and direction.
