Artist
Delsey Hill is a French, Cherbourg-based progressive pop duo composed of Lucas de la Rosa and Gabriel Chesnet. They started working together on their debut album Velveteen in late 2016, for a release on July 27th, 2018. The combination of a theory-heavy sound engineer and a jack-of-all-trades goofball creates a progressive alt-pop duo with retro influences, picking and taking from a wide array of sounds and experimenting with eclectic styles or soundscaping, from textbook shoegaze to electronic music. Lucas was born in Cherbourg in 1996, his primary instrument being the piano despite being known mostly for guitar videos online. Early nu-metal influences turned into an undying love for post-90s progressive rock/metal, and profound interest in music theory brings intricate and uncommon chord progressions or arrangements to the duo's music. His current influences reside in Dream Theater, Neal Morse, Supercell, Opeth, Haken and Sean Lennon. Gabriel was born in Rouen in 1999 and learnt music theory from the age of 4, learning the clarinet before turning to several years of piano. Heavily into Muse and the Eels in middle school, he took several years of drum lessons before turning to the guitar and bass, jumping from band to band in various instruments. He released a now-buried solo album as well as another with Kattemusen in 2016, which Lucas engineered, hence Delsey Hill forming soon after. His current main influences include the Flaming Lips, Blonde Redhead, Primus and John Ma
