Adelbert "Dell" Vaughan was born in Flint, MI, on June 24, 1937, and was raised in Clio, MI. He served in the U.S. Marines, and fought in the Korean War. He died on April 11, 2010 in Rose City, MI. Vaughan co-founded Michigan Magazine, the PBS TV show, in 1989, and composed and performed its theme song, "Soar Like an Eagle." He was inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame in 1994. Vaughan retired from Michigan Magazine in 2007, but remained an active role in the show's production. His love of Michigan and its people was the subject of many of his original compositions.
