There are two artists that share this page: 1) Deformer hails from Rotterdam city, The Netherlands and stood up during the 92/93 Breakbeat / Jungle era. They were one of the first serious producers in its genre in The Netherlands. At the time that ‘real’ Junglists revolted against the new commercial alternative Drum n Bass, Deformer already produced some revolutionary tracks. After appearing on compilations, Deformer broke through by releasing their full length debut: ‘Fxecutioners’. Hereby Deformer succeeded to fuse the traditional raw Jungle sound with dark Drum n Bass and already drove a large audience crazy. Track: ‘The Possessor’ later became a classic. Soon Deformer toured around many parts of the world and released a couple of 12 inches including ’Illy Noiz on Wax vol. 2’. A hardcore Jungle crossover statement was made when ‘Slasher’ came out. The Slasher 12” (2001) is a classic among the experimental Jungle/ Drum n bass heads and was truly ahead of its time. It stayed on hold at the record pressing plant because of the unorthodox sound and drum programming and in some countries the record got soled without the shocking record sleeve. This record led to a collaboration with Slipknot DJ Starscream. The main track ‘Slasher’ is now considered to be a revolutionary piece of work and with its steady rhythm and typical Rotterdam hardcore sounds, it is now filed under the ‘breakcore’ sub-genre.
