Dee Mee Tree is a performance artist from Moscow based in Berlin. His music can be described as experimental psychedelic noise created purely with vocal chords and only live, with no editing involved. Inspired by Russian futurist sound poetry, hip-hop, new wave techno, butoh dance, Open Theatre, Psychic TV, and ancient incantations, Dee Mee Tree creates immersive soundscapes using his own voice, beat-box, korg effect processors, and boss loop machines. His latest album Macro-Phone is made entirely using a mobile phone: people call in a special number and get their voices sampled live. The recurrent themes are multiple personality disorder and schizophrenia, which find expression in Dee Mee Tree music, live performance, and video work.
