Dear DJ, the musical persona of Josh Cook, is an experimental hip-hop producer based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This experiment in audio science infuses rap and hip-hop with a variety of sounds ranging from jazz, indian, and native, to Bossa nova, classical and psychedelic. The first album by Dear DJ features collaborations with the likes of Biz Mighty, Tame One, Block McCloud, Reef the Lost Cauze, Ethel Cee, and Copyright. In an era when popular Hip-hop is quickly losing meaning and creativity, comes the 2011 self-titled album by Dear DJ to inject life back into the art.
