Formed Nov. 02, by longtime friends Ceri (guitar) and Terry (bass guitar) plus more recent mate Linden, who, it would later be said in an album review, "...has a voice the Devil would make a pact with himself to own"... Soon joined by Ceri's brother, experienced drummer Barney, from authoritative power-thrash band Vessel. Within 5 months, with the last-minute addition of guitarist James L. Brown, Dead Lane Cross was up and running: heavy hardcore metal with searing riffs and devastating vocals; heartfelt lyrics passionately delivered, mostly from Linden's extensive collection of personal and political writings; good crowds at gigs right from the start, wicked cheerful ferocious moshpits..... 1st album SIGNPOST, recorded at Springvale Studios, Ipswich, was released in Summer 03. John Peel played tracks from it on Radio 1, it reached the last 12 of Scuzz-TV's Demo-lition - was blowtorched by Max Cavalera, but he liked the riffs... In May 04, now back to the original 4-man line-up, DLC went into the studio at West Suffolk College to record their 2nd album, FALLING LIKE A BLEEDING SKY - one day's recording, plus mixing/mastering, and the 12 tracks + intro were in the can. The album was released in June 04. It too received airtime from John Peel. DLC are currently gigging further & further afield, continuing to write new material, flogging the albums & T-shirts, and meeting a lot of good bands.
