In the heart of The Hague, De Nieuwe Vrolijkheid has discovered a small refuge far away from the typical The Hague rock sound. The band consists of Natasha on guitar, vox, synth, Pim on drums and Vincent on vox, percussion and organ. More than often, the band is enforced by friends on various instruments. In 2005, De Nieuwe Vrolijkheid recorded their debut EP “We Are John Wayne” at Henk Koorn’s Sahara Sound Studio, which features their modest underground hit “John Wayne”. During the past winter, De Nieuwe Vrolijkheid locked themselves up in their practicing space and studio, in order to work – the Spartan way - on an album, with emphasis on the intuitive way of making music that the band had pursued in their earlier days. Recently, the band has been performing their new stuff at venues and festivals throughout the Netherlands. Their music has an emotional drive, presented with Sturm und Drang. De Nieuwe Vrolijkheid enjoys to go out and discover equally minded boys and girls; Rather together than alone.
