Day of Suffering was a hardline metalcore band from Wilmington, North Carolina, active from 1993β1997. Lyrical themes included animal rights, drug-free philosophy, and radical Islam. Initially known as Falling Down, they recorded an EP 'Life Before Machine' (1995). At the 1996 Cleveland Underground Music festival they would change their name to Day of Suffering after the Morbid Angel song of the same name. The following year they would release thier only album 'The Eternal Jihad' (1997) for Catalyst Records. This album would be part of a wave of bands in the Hardcore scene adding in elements of Death Metal, such as blast beats and screamed vocals. The band has since done a couple of reunion shows, in 2009 and 2012. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
