"When you're a trio, everything flows naturally. The downside is : you have to know where you're headed… Like every ambitious act, Dawnshape took some time finding it's right balance. Only the hazy guitars are left from their 1st draft "We Couldn't Seize A Bit Of Truth" (2007 - LostChildren), and the pastoral atmosphere has turned into a fierce forest. "Sparse Prism" shows the band delivering subtle and instant songs, without falling into the elitist trap : 5 tracks written with a sense of density, opposing simple vocal melodies, to reach as many catchy moments as pure experimentation. On "Sparse Prism", the vocals lead a comfort and clear way through the depths and the fog of the songs : a double reading which holds the record both in the daylight and the underground, depending on your vision. And an accurate perception of what Dawnshape is today : a characterful 3 piece, wearing a rough silhouette with refined ideas. A description reminding of Chokebore, Slint, as much as Liars or Honey For Petzi. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
