David graduated from the University of California at San Diego in 1996 with a BA in music, with department honors in piano performance, and a Ph.D. in Material Science. At UCSD, he studied piano with Aleck Karis (who is his current teacher), and earlier with Ruth Neville, Stephanie Walens, and Howard Wells. David enjoys surfing, playing basketball, jogging, traveling, and reading. He is married and lives in Prunedale, CA where he performs classical works as well as his own compositions. Monster Music was selected to be performed at the University of Kentucky Contemporary Music Festival and can occasionally be heard on local radio broadcasts. A segment of Horceraces was included in a composition by Robert Voisey entitled 60x60. David can be contacted at davidtmar@sbcglobal.net.
