about

Brewbaker’s music is defined by songs that sound both modern and classic. The influence of artists such as Bruce Cockburn, Bonnie Raitt, Steely Dan, J.J. Cale, Mark Knopfler, and Dave Alvin are unambiguous; at the same time Brewbaker expands the genre of American roots by stretching his musical palette and moving easily between jazz and blues styles, merging them with the very best the storytelling tradition has to offer. An American songwriter, singer and guitarist, David Brewbaker was born in Richmond, Virginia and began writing songs when he was thirteen. He spent many years performing on stage and in clubs around New York, Colorado and New Mexico and has also worked as a composer of jingles, industrial music and documentary films. His work includes writing and recording with the late producer Norman Petty of Buddy Holly fame, and he studied with guitarists Jack Wilkins, John Scofield and Steve Kahn. He currently lives and works in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
