This past year has brought many great surprises to the talented artist .Dave Sereny was nominated for Guitarist of the Year and Album of the Year for the 2008 Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards. Additionally, he performed live at the stellar event on March 7, 2008, which took place at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. A Canadian native that resides in Toronto, Sereny was a multiple nominee in 2006 and received another nomination in 2007. With the release of Take This Ride on the nuGroove label in 2007, Sereny’s hot guitar licks have hit the smooth jazz scene with a vengeance. Scott O’Brien of SmoothJazz.com declared, “Canadian Guitarist’s Breakthrough Release Wows Smooth Jazz Community.” Special guest appearances by Bob James, Wayman Tisdale, Nathan Watts (Stevie Wonder), and Warren Hill makes this album a must have for any smooth jazz fan. Dave Sereny’s love of music quickly developed when, as a young boy, his older brother Mike took him to the record store and introduced him to an array of musical styles. From that moment onward, Dave endeavored to make music a way of life. At the age of 9, Dave had the wonderful opportunity to see Doobie Brothers in concert and was truly touched by the melodic experience. Soon afterward, Dave’s older brother Mike once again played a significant part in his career path by purchasing a guitar for him when his just 9 years old.
