Some sounds would exist regardless of life, and despite isolation and sheer credibility, some artists continue to grow and inspire, regardless of hype. Dave Betamax has been producing and DJing since 2001, covering almost every genre that the bass spectrum has to offer, from IDM to Jungle and everywhere in between. Smut + Bass Records was founded by Dave in 2009 to give unique musicians a medium to express themselves. They now pack a roster of many talented artists who continue to push the boundaries of bass music. Playing alongside artists like King Cannibal, 16bit, AK1200, Prefuse 73, DJ Chefal, Distance, Von D, Nick Argon, Zed Bias, Pearson Sound, Jimmy Edgar and many more, nothing phases this individual. After dropping his debut album, Dissolved, on his very own imprint, Dave is now prepping his sophomore release entitled Floating Rocks. Betamax draws influence from Future Garage with hints of Techno, House, and IDM. Those that love his music tend to also enjoy Aphex Twin, Burial, 2562, Phaeleh, Martyn, Shackleton, and Scuba, but this robot creates a realm all his own.
