Artist
Dave Asgrove originates from Wolverhampton in the West Midlands of the U.K. From early days he was heavily influenced by the meaningful lyrics of Bob Dylan, the raw sorrow of BB King and Lightning Hopkins, and the aggressively direct yet soulful playing of Jimi Hendrix. Later, by the infectious genious of street level wordmasters John Cooper-Clarke, Gill Scot Heron and Bob Marley, The Stranglers and The Clash. In 1980, after a year busking in Germany, he left for Holland, where by co-incidence he met up with his two brothers in Eindhoven, Holland. They decided to pool their talents (as musicians) and return to England to form their band ‘The Suspects’. By 1982 they were featured on the Crass album ‘Bullshit Detector Two’ with their brilliant track ‘Random Relations part two’. The band split whilst on tour in Holland in 1983. Many things have happened since then, but the driving forces of the band - brothers Dave Asgrove and Fred Twigg never stopped playing. This month (January 2010) sees The Suspects reunited to record their return album.
