Das Bluul is a music project from Drebber, Germany. Full time members David Runge and Holger Schilling created the band in 2005 to experiment with massive sounds and feedback. They started using a rehearsal room (also used by other bands and projects of the two) filled with different amplifiers, instruments, effects and stuff to create and deform sound with. The name taken from decade-long German sci-fi saga Perry Rhodan describes an elephantine creature in space (surrounding a planet), feeding from radiation and being extremely powerful on creating hallucinations. The sound of Das Bluul is often described as being experimental/ambient/drone/doom/noise/psychedelic/minimalistic. This variety can be explained by a huge amount of different influences and the fact that most of the recordings feature one or more local guests that helped out on the drums, bass, recording, or whatever was available and useful at that particular time. Das Bluul stands for long but slow, excessive and (in a common sense) not song-orientated instrumental jams. Most of these very long (and loud) songs don’t feature vocals (due to time spent on influencing feedbacks and so on). If so, they’re mostly mantra-like thus still aggressive to support the given manifestation. The songs (especially those made by the two fulltime members) often consist of different layers of repetitive drones and effect-loaded sounds.
