Artist
Dark Sparks are a band of five young men from Sheffield. Musically in tune they write dark pop (master) pieces that are occasionally violent and always emotive. The new line-up is in its infancy but they’re already starting to turn heads. Recent single We Are Just Flies was played on Kerrang Radio where DJ Alex Baker declared: “They’re like an art rock horror show – I love Dark Sparks!” They have also been making (air) waves on BBC Radio Sheffield. Constant rotation of We Are Just Flies led to a live session and interview with DJ Iain Hodgeson and they were chosen to represent the city in a special showcase at the famous O2 Academy. Their set from the night will be played out in full on BBC Radio Sheffield in December and sent on to Radio 1 and 6Music via the BBC Introducing network. Review sites and bloggers have declared Dark Sparks “deserving of a slavering fanbase”[1], “exemplary dramatic indie rock”[2] and “darkly brilliant”[3] while support slots with bands like Good Shoes, Grammatics, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Blood Red Shoes and Red Light Company have boosted their profile.
