Daniel Jacob Radcliffe (born 23 July 1989) is an English film, television and stage actor. He is known for playing school-aged wizard Harry Potter in each of the first five films based on the best-selling Harry Potter book series, and will appear in the final two films of that series as well. He prefers to be called Dan and has recently shed the schoolboy image by appearing as Alan Strang in the critically acclaimed "Equus". Reviews indicate that Dan will no longer be stereotyped as the boy wizard. In the summer of 2007, he is to start rehearsals for the TV adaptation of "My Boy Jack" the story of Rudyard Kiplings son, lost in action. He has also filmed a small autralian film called December boys which is due to be released in late 2007.
