A native of Israel, Daniel Meron succeeds in expressing the diversity of influences from his homeland in his music. Nourished by the tradition of Jazz improvisation, but recognizing the value of a solid tune, Daniel finds a way to feature his unique playing style in brilliant compositions that are both sophisticated and lyrical, communicating vivid stories and emotions to the listener. Born in Israel in 1985, Daniel began playing piano at the age of 8. Studying with teachers Boaz Prital and Michael Tabdi, Daniel quickly gained a strong foundation through his classical studies and gradually shifted towards the contemporary and jazz genres. As a music student in Ben-Zvi High school, in Kiryat-Ono, Daniels interest in jazz grew more and he began playing in the high school Big Band. Daniels involvement in the music department was shown quickly, as he began arranging for the school ensembles. During his last year of high school Daniel took lessons with jazz pianist Raz Itzhaky. In addition, he formed a ten-piece contemporary band, which performed their original music in venues including The Barbie and Maccabi Music Factory in Tel Aviv. After Graduating from high school in 2003, Daniel joined the prestigious performance troupes of the Israeli Military. He served as a pianist for one year and was then promoted to Chief Musical Arranger of the performance troupes, a position he filled for the next two years.
