i was born in jackson, mississippi and lived in a small town in central mississippi until age seven when my family moved to a suburb of atlanta, georgia. at age thirteen i became interested in music and began playing guitar. music continued to be my central artistic pursuit through high school and into college, where i studied electric guitar, improvisation, and composition. though songwriting occupies most of my time, i have and still do, periodically explore free improvisation, site-specific art, performance art, sculpture, sound-installation, and other means of compositional practice.
