Dan Vapid and The Cheats is the new project from Dan Schafer (aka Dan Vapid)who is a punk rock musician from Chicago, Illinois best known for his participation in Screeching Weasel, The Riverdales, The Methadones,The Mopes,Sludgeworth,and Noise By Numbers. Following the demise of the newly reformed version of Screeching Weasel after the SXSW debacle in 2011, Dan formed a new band called Dan Vapid and the Cheats featuring bassist Simon Lamb (from Screeching Weasel and the Riverdales), guitarist Mike Byrne and drummer Mike Soucy (both from the Methadones). Before Dan Vapid and The Cheats released their self titled debut in March of 2012,they have played many shows that have included Vapid and The Cheats performing songs from The Methadones,Riverdales,The Mopes, Sludgeworth and etc. Dan Vapid and The Cheats are NOT to be confused with the long standing Pittsburgh punk band The Cheats.
