Artist
Dan Aborise is a singer/songwriter currently living in North Devon (UK). His guitar playing recalls the styles of Bert Jansch and John Fahey. He was also drawn towards the mesmerizing atmospheres conjured by Brian Eno's early ambient works and Robert Fripp's soundscapes. He calls his music "Instrumental 'ambient' music", a sort of "John Martyn meets Nick Drake for the 21st Century". Born in the jungles of Borneo to Polish parents, Aborise spent most of his youth in London. In the summer of 2006 he released his debut album, 'Around In Circles'. It was written in an old cottage in the Scottish Borders where he and his wife grew vegetables for sustenance and collected wood for heat. But later that year Arborise moved on to North Devon. He settled there with his wife, young daughter and dog and worked on a farm in exchange for board and lodgings. They Aborises spent two years living a yurt on a wooded hillside, with water coming from a well and a wood burner for heat and cooking. In this environment his second album 'Of Tide and Trail' slowly took shape. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
